Mariya Gabriel visited Gabrovo and met with RIC’s team

Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth visited the City of Gabrovo. She was welcomed by Mrs. Tanya Hristova, the Mayor of Gabrovo and the Rector of the Technical University of Gabrovo, Mr. Iliya Zhelezarov.

During the visit, Mrs. Gabriel discussed with RIC Gabrovo’s founder and Chairwoman Mrs. Nikolinka Hinkova various opportunities for accelerating innovation and digitalization of the region. Topics like strengthening the collaboration on European level, supporting entrepreneurship and building capacity was also discussed.

Mrs. Gabriel also visited the Tech Park of the Technical University of Gabrovo and discussed with the Rector a variety of opportunities for strengthening the collaboration between the University and other leading European R&D infrastructures.

Another interesting topics of discussion was between Mrs. Gabriel and Mrs. Tanya Hristova related to the innovation ecosystem in the town, the green technologies and opportunities for creating green, sustainable and resilient cities.

At the end of the visit, Mrs. Gabriel spoke in front of students of the Technical University to inspire and motivate the talented students in their journey for research and innovation activities.
