The Municipality of Gabrovo joined the project “Alliance of Regional Innovation Ecosystems based on Smart Specialization Strategies” (ARIES4) as a partner.
The activities are under the Erasmus+ international program 2021-2027 and will be implemented until 2025. The amount of funding is 542,194 euros, and the budget for Gabrovo is 30,225 euros.
Representatives of nine regional organizations from Spain, Denmark, Sweden and Bulgaria will cooperate in creating mechanisms for the sustainable development of smart specialization policies. The idea is to increase the capacity of the participants to implement their innovation strategies.
The development will bring together universities, schools, the public sector, business and society as a whole, providing them with the knowledge, skills and tools to design and implement sustainable models for smart specialisation.
The national innovation strategy for intelligent specialization for the period 2021-2027 positions Gabrovo in three priority directions – “Mechatronics”, “Informatics and ICT” and “Clean technologies, circular and low-carbon economy”. And while the last direction is horizontal and a priority for all areas in the country, mechatronics and information technologies are the two leading areas for Gabrovo.
Among the main partners in the project is the Regional Innovation Center “Ambitious Gabrovo”, and the local joint-stock companies “Senstate Technologies” and “Mechatronica”, as well as the Technical University and the Professional Technical High School “Dr. Nikola Vasiliadi” in Gabrovo are associated as interested parties.
