New Funding Opportunities from the Bulgarian Development Bank

We are pleased to share the latest financing programs launched by the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) in partnership with the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB). These initiatives aim to support the growth and competitiveness of Bulgarian businesses by providing access to long-term capital under favourable conditions.

Financing for family businesses and SMEs

The Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) has launched a new credit program in partnership with the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), focusing on one of the drivers of the Bulgarian economy – micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including family businesses and artisans.
✓ Support for SMEs, family businesses, and artisans, providing access to long-term capital. Focusing on job creation and preservation, especially in regions with high unemployment.
✓ Purpose: For investments and working capital
✓ Target groups: Micro, small, medium-sized, and family businesses that: 1- create and maintain jobs; 2- have positive equity; 3- have no overdue obligations to credit institutions or the National Revenue Agency; 4- do not operate in sectors excluded from the BRS.
✓ Working capital loan: minimum total term – one and a half years, maximum – 4 years;
✓ Investment loan: total term from 5 to 10 years; drawdown period – up to 2 years; grace period – up to 2 years.
✓ Resource – up to EUR 2.5 million

Funding for women entrepreneurs

✓ Support for female entrepreneurship by providing long-term financial resources on favorable terms. The program aims to encourage economic activity among women, develop business potential, and create employment.
✓ Purpose: For investments and working capital
✓ Target groups: micro, small, and medium-sized companies whose capital (at least 50%) is owned by women.
✓ Working capital loan: minimum total term – one and a half years, maximum – 4 years;
✓ Loan for investments: total term from 5 to 10 years; drawdown period – up to 2 years; grace period – up to 2 years.
✓ Resource – up to EUR 2.5 million

Financing for social and innovative companies

✓ Support for initiatives contributing to job creation, including from the development of new technologies to improving social inclusion and environmental protection.
✓ Purpose: For investments and working capital
✓ Target groups – Innovative micro, small and medium-sized companies or social enterprises that:.
✓ Working capital loan: minimum total term – one and a half years, maximum – 4 years;
✓ Investment loan: total term from 5 to 10 years; drawdown period – up to 2 years; grace period – up to 2 years.

Financing for green companies and projects

✓ Support for entrepreneurs who develop “green” projects. The funding is aimed at supporting the transition to a carbon-neutral economy, with a focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
✓ Purpose: For investments and working capital for green projects related to renewable energy; energy efficiency and emission reduction; efficient use of water resources; circular economy and recycling; and biodiversity and sustainable agriculture.
✓ Target groups – green enterprises that have been awarded or funded (including with BFP) by a recognised clean technology institution; have a registration or patent for renewable/clean technologies or have an EU Ecolabel or equivalent certificate.
✓ Working capital loan: minimum total term – one and a half years, maximum – 4 years;
✓ Investment loan: total term from 5 to 15 years; drawdown period – up to 2 years; grace period – up to 2 years.
✓ Collateral: mortgage/pledge of real estate/movable property; pledge of commercial enterprise or pledge of cash, etc.
