Tania Hristova, member of the Board of the Regional Innovation Centre (RIC) “Ambitious Gabrovo” and Mayor of Gabrovo, continues to prove the city’s leading role in European politics.
Gabrovo has once again consolidated its position among the leading Bulgarian cities in European politics. This is due to the active role of the Mayor Tania Hristova. During the 164th plenary session (19-20.02.2025) of the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels, she was elected vice-president of the SEDEC committee and vice-president of the European People’s Party (EPP) group in this important body.
The Committee of the Regions is a key institution where local authorities from across the EU shape policies that directly affect the lives of citizens. In this context, Tania Hristova’s participation at such a high level is recognition not only of her work, but also of Gabrovo’s importance as a leading city in sustainable development and innovation. Accompanying Tania Hristova was Maksim Sadinov, an active young leader involved in European youth initiatives and regional innovation projects.
SEDEC (Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture) plays a central role in the development of policies related to innovation, education and social inclusion. Hristova’s vice-presidential role will enable her to directly influence EU strategies in these key areas, while ensuring better representation of Bulgarian interests.
The fact that a Bulgarian representative holds such important positions in the European Committee of the Regions is a strong message about the growing role of our country in the European institutions. This is not only a personal success for Tania Hristova, but also a significant step for Gabrovo and Bulgaria as a whole towards more effective participation in European processes. With this success, Gabrovo and its leadership continue to establish the city as a leading factor in creating modern and workable policies for the future of Europe. 🇧🇬🇪🇺
